Please note that we currently have limited volunteer opportunities. We will review applications on file periodically and contact you if there is an opening.
Community Mediation Volunteers participate in scheduled mediation sessions where they help facilitate communication and understanding between disputants toward a mutual resolution of their conflict. They also assist in training new SEEDS mediators at the mediation trainings.
Qualification: 40 Hour Mediation Certification, preferably through SEEDS, PCRC or Community Boards
Other considerations:

Fluency in multiple languages (English/Spanish preferred)

Has a strong understanding of power dynamics and how they play-out in a conflict/mediation

Sensitivity to lived experiences of marginalization

Trained in a 2-3 mediator model
Time Commitment: At least 1 year (2 mediations/year and 1 mediation coaching/year)
Status: Limited openings, we typically onboard 13-16 new mediators per year.

CASE DEVELOPMENT

Case Development Volunteers use effective listening skills to speak with and educate potential clients, assess appropriateness for mediation, and set up mediations with multiple parties.
Qualification: Interest in conflict resolution, strong listening and organizational skills. Technological proficiency and daytime ability.
Other considerations: ​

40 Hour Mediation Certification, preferably through SEEDS, PCRC or Community Boards

FACILITATION
Our Facilitation Panel assists trainings and workshops for small groups and organizations. Facilitators enable groups and organizations to work more effectively by bringing structure to the process, encouraging collaboration, full participation, and mutual understanding.
Qualification: Experience in facilitation or 2 years as a SEEDS mediator
Preferred: Bilingual Spanish/English
Time Commitment: At least 1 year

Training volunteers teach conflict resolution skills to others in the community through SEEDS workshops and trainings. Training volunteers must be proficient in SEEDS' facilitative community mediation model.
Qualification: 40 Hour Mediation Certification
