20-Hour Training for Teachers
About this Training
This 20-hour in-person training will incorporate peer-to-peer dialogue to offer you opportunities to think through what’s happening in your classes/spaces and the classes/spaces of your fellow teachers, your and their relationships with students, and to envision, as a group, a “restorative classroom” through the peer-led co-creation of a supportive, caring, inclusive environment with students.
Contents of the Training
Participants in this training will engage with fellow teachers to explore strategies for maintaining a restorative classroom, AKA, an intentional learning community through the development of shared values and agreements, and ongoing practice through icebreakers, peer-to-peer dialogue, games, and circle process for addressing class content, stressful moments, celebrations and appreciations.
As a group, we will provide lots of skills and strategies to introduce and practice within your classroom for caring and supporting community dynamics, such as de-escalating conflicts, understanding unmet needs, getting your own needs met, and moving through conflicts with parents, colleagues and administrators in ways that can bring learning and transformation.
This training is experiential and designed to give everyone a chance to engage in self-reflection and share stories with fellow participants, and to practice skills in community building and responding to conflict and harm with restorative approaches.
Price: $950.

16-hour training for Administrators
About this Training
We understand that school administrators have their own ideas and questions about Restorative Justice in their schools. Over the years, the State of California and many school districts throughout the country have implemented restorative justice policies that sometimes generate more questions than provide viable solutions.
By the end of the training, participants will have a solid understanding of the language, principles and practices of restorative justice, recognize the restorative justice practice as tools to building and strengthening community, de-escalating conflict, and as alternatives to normative punitive approaches.
Throughout, this training will provide administrators time and space to reflect on the challenges of their positioning, within their various contexts, as they strive to meet the needs and interests of students, parents, teachers, staff, security, and district leaders while also expanding restorative justice and restorative practices.
Content of the Training
In this specialized training for school administrators, facilitators with years of experience in schools will guide dialogue with participants regarding the role of restorative justice in the California Ed Code, and how to develop a consistent and sustainable infrastructure for restorative justice in schools.
Administrators will experience some elements of circle practice that emphasize values and community agreements, and restorative justice methodologies, such as the “Restorative Questions.” Collectively, the group will engage such restorative justice principles and concepts as “acknowledging impact and intent;” recognizing that conflict and harm arise from unmet needs, and the Restorative Justice spectrum.
Participants will be invited to discuss strategies and short- and long-term plans for implementing or strengthening restorative justice pathways within your schools, strengthening relationships with teachers, students, parents and communities, and improving education outcomes, especially for students with multiple needs.
